Wide receiver Calvin Johnson broke another record during a 34-17 victory over the Chicago Bears on Thursday.
Johnson became the fastest player in NFL history to pass 10,000 yards receiving. He hit the mark in 115 games, breaking the record set by former receiver Torry Holt, who hit 10,000 career receiving yards in 116 games.
“That’s big, especially for a receiver,” Johnson said. “To be able to do it, in the fashion that we were able to do it and with the help I have from the rest of my teammates, we all share and take part in that.
Johnson needed 94 yards entering Thursday’s game to reach the mark and ended up with 11 catches for 146 yards and two touchdowns, bringing his career yardage to 10,052 yards.
Johnson, who moved into 43rd place all time in receiving yards, is now close to passing Shannon Sharpe, who had 10,060 yards from 1990 to 2003.
Johnson has had 42 100-yard games.
