Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder are hoping to make a run in the 2015-16 NBA season and the playoffs are approaching quickly. They remain on the same side at this point, but Durant could end up leaving in free agency. He is going to be the most sought after free agent and there are a lot of teams who will have a chunk of money to offer him.

As rumors begin swirling about Durant, the Boston Celtics have come up as a team that could interest him. Durant was asked about what he thinks of Boston and said that he likes the city.

If Boston were able to lure Durant in free agency, they would immediately jump to being a top team in the Eastern Conference. They have been searching to acquire a superstar for the past couple of seasons, but haven’t found one for the right price. Spending big money on Durant would be well worth the expense for the Celtics.

At this point in the season, the Celtics are the No. 3 team in the Eastern Conference. They are already a contender, but don’t have the player that can take over a game at any moment.

Isaiah Thomas has become an All-Star caliber player, but there are some games where inconsistency is an issue.

Throughout the course of the season thus far, Durant has averaged 28.0 points, 8.2 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game. He has shot 50.5 percent from the field overall and has knocked down 38.9 percent of his three-point attempts. Those numbers show just how efficient he has been and why he will be getting a massive pay raise.

Expect to see the Celtics show interest in Durant when free agency opens up this coming offseason. They have some money to spend and Durant is obviously intrigued by the city. It would make for an awesome story to see him sign with Boston, although there are going to be many other teams vying for him.
