The New York Giants caught a break after watching three starters go down with injuries during Sunday’s 20-12 loss to the Indianapolis Colts.
Wide receiver Victor Cruz suffered only a bruised heel. Coach Tom Coughlin said the medical staff would do some more tests on the Giants’ star and that he couldn’t determine if Cruz would miss the team’s next preseason game against the Jets.
“He jammed his heel and is sore so that’s all I know at this point,” Coughlin said, via USA Today Sports. “He runs to make his living and he’s obviously got an issue with the heel. Hopefully it’s not going to be a long thing.”
Wide receiver Hakeem Nicks added: “He felt fine. I don’t really know what the details of the injury was but he said he was fine. I really don’t think it’s that serious. I think they just played it safe by holding him out.”
Starting center Davis Baas had negative X-rays on his sprained knee and defensive end Justin Tuck suffered a slight hamstring strain. Coughlin would not elaborate on the injuries.
