New England Patriots release TE Zach Sudfeld

New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski is likely to make his 2013 debut very soon.  On Thursday, the Patriots released tight end Zach Sudfeld.

The rookie tight end looked good in the preseason but played in three regular-season games and didn’t record an offensive stat.  Sudfeld was also a non-factor on special teams.

The 6-foot-7, 260-pound Sudfeld will have the chance to join the Patriots practice squad if no other team claims him of waivers.

The Patriots also announced Thursday that defensive lineman Vince Wilfork has been placed on Injured Reserve and wide receiver Austin Collie was signed to the active roster.
