The Minnesota Wild announced Monday that captain Mikko Koivu underwent successful ankle surgery this morning and is expected to make a full recovery and return to play in approximately four weeks.

The captain was placed on Injured Reserve Monday. He currently leads the team in points with 35 (8-27=35) through 44 games this season.

Koivu suffered the broken ankle in Saturday night’s game against the Washington Capitals, though he did finish the game.
