The Dallas Stars held an event Tuesday night for season-ticket holders and other guests, and at the end of the night, the team unveiled a new logo and new team uniform’s for the 2013-14 season.
Stars owner Tom Gaglardi introduced the new logo and jerseys in front of the 2,400 in attendance. A silver D with a star behind it with a green outline is the new logo. Stars center Jamie Benn and franchise icon Mike Modano, who will have his jersey retired on March 8, modeled the new jersey’s.
“I think they look great. They’re sharp and it’s an honor putting on a new jersey,” Benn said. “It’s pretty unique. Like we talked about, it was a different color. It’s our own color, Victory Green. I think it’s going to look sharp out there on the ice.”
Modano, who works in the Stars front office as a special adviser, said he made sure green remained part of the club’s color.
“I came from Minnesota and it [that color] is just something people recognize. Over the years, we got away from that,” Modano said. “It’s a good color. It’s different. Obviously, no one has it (in the NHL), and that’s the way it was with the North Stars. Green was kind of unique and different.
“It shows well on TV. It pops good on the white ice. When you see it, you know it’s us.”
