The Chicago Bears have hired renowned martial arts expert Joe Kim to be a skill development coach for the 2014 season, reports Jeff Dickerson of ESPNChicago.com.
According to the report, Kim will work with all of the Bears’ position groups on teaching them how to better use their hands when blocking or escaping blocks.
Kim worked with the Kansas City Chiefs from 2010-12 and has also consulted for the Cleveland Browns, Miami Dolphins, New York Giants, Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys, Denver Broncos, Green Bay Packers and Penn State.
Kim was the Browns’ assistant strength coach from 1992-95 and 1999-2000.
The Bears had just 31 team sacks in 2013, down from 41 team sacks in 2012, Lovie Smith’s final season in Chicago.
