The New England Patriots have signed wide receiver Austin Collie.
Collie was spotted practicing with the team on Thursday wearing No. 10.
Collie spent training camp with the 49ers before being released during the team’s final cuts. He will have a chance to contribute to New England, where four of the team’s six wide receivers — Danny Amendola (groin), Kenbrell Thompkins (shoulder), Aaron Dobson (neck) and Matt Slater (wrist) — were on Wednesday’s injury report.
The 6-foot-1, 200-pound recover has totaled 172 receptions during his first three NFL seasons, all with the Colts. His best season came during his rookie year in 2009 when he caught 60 passes for 676 yards.
Collie, 27, was limited to just one game in 2012 due to a ruptured patellar tendon. He has also dealt with concussions in recent seasons.
The Patriots play the Cincinnati Bengals at Paul Brown Stadium on Sunday.
