Atlanta Braves’ Reed Johnson and Milwaukee Brewers’ Carlos Gomez have each been suspended by the MLB for one game for their roles in a benches-clearing incident Wednesday.
Both will serve their suspensions on Thursday, when the Braves host the Phillies and the Brewers play against the Mets.
“I send my apologies to everybody in the Braves’ organization and to my organization,” Gomez said Thursday on “Grandes en Los Deportes” show on ESPN Radio in the Dominican Republic. “I admit it was somewhat ugly, but I do not regret it because it was the result of something they did to disrespect me.
“When I hit the homer, I said, ‘Now we’re tied.’ And they began to tell me things. When I got to the plate, McCann yelled at me and I told him that this was the result of something they had done.”
