Paul George says he and LeBron James still have rivalry

Paul George

The Indiana Pacers and Miami Heat have been rivals for the past three seasons, and the Paul George versus LeBron James rivalry was a much talked about event as well. With James leaving the Heat and heading back to Cleveland, George has made it clear that there is still a rivalry between the two stars. It’s going to make for a very interesting Central Division race whenever the Cavaliers and Pacers play this coming year.

“Bron going back home, it’s definitely going to pick things up when the Pacers and Cavs play. I’m definitely still gunning for the top guys. Whoever the top guy is, I’m gunning for him. I got a target for him as well as he’ll have a target for me. He’s the top guy. He’s the one everybody is chasing. At the end of the day, I want to be one of the best and the top player in this league. LeBron is the one I’m gunning for as well as K.D.” – Paul George

As expected, George is not backing away from taking on the best talents in the NBA. The Pacers drafted George knowing that he could be a very good player, but they certainly didn’t know that he would have the potential to become one of the top players in the league. He may never get to the point of being the best player in the NBA, but he definitely has a chance to get there with hard work and good coaching.

Cleveland and Indiana will play four times this coming season, and each time that George and James face each other will actually mean a little bit more. The Central Division is going to be a tight three-team race between the Cavaliers, Pacers, and Bulls, and each game that these three teams face each other is going to be important. It’s good to see that George is not letting the rivalry go, and is rather using it as fuel to make him work harder to be the best.

Overall, this is going to be a very interesting season for both the Pacers and the Cavaliers. Cleveland has championship expectations from the fans with James coming home, and the Pacers have high expectations despite losing their second best player in Lance Stephenson this offseason. Both teams have to play their best basketball in order to set up another George vs. James Eastern Conference Finals, but there is still a chance that it could happen.
