UPDATE: Winslow fails physical exam, Patriots sign Hoomanawanui instead.
Tight end Kellen Winslow will reportedly work out for the New England Patriots.
Winslow, who was released by the Seahawks during training camp, spent the last three seasons with the Buccaneers. The 29-year-old caught 75 passes for 763 yards with two touchdowns last season.
The Patriots are in no need for another tight end as they already have Rob Gronkowski, Aaron Hernandez, Daniel Fells and Visante Shiancoe on the active roster, and Jake Ballard on the physically unable to perform list.
The Patriots may just be trying to evaluate Winslow’s health and abilities if they need to add a tight end during the season.
Winslow has caught 437 passes for 4,836 yards and 23 touchdowns in seven seasons. He went to the Pro Bowl in 2007 with the Browns after catching 82 passes for 1,106 yards and five touchdowns.
