Jason Giambi will interview for the Colorado Rockies vacant managerial job, reports The Denver Post.
The 41-year-old Giambi underwent hernia surgery last week to allow him the option to continue to play in 2013. But he says he will not play if he gets the job.
Giambi has never coached at any level and only has worked with Rockies players on their hitting.
The Rockies other options for the job include bench coach Tom Runnells, Dan O’Dowd assistant Vinny Castilla, Dodgers third-base coach Tim Wallach, Sandy Alomar Jr, Padres assistant Brad Ausmus and Rays assistant Dave Martinez.
