Minnesota Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder revealed Wednesday in London that he sustained a rib injury last Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.
Ponder said the rib injury occured early in the game but he was able to play through it. He will be limited during the Vikings’ walk-through today.
“We’ll see how he progresses today and tomorrow,” Frazier said. “We’ll probably have a better feel on Friday. But today will be a big signal as to what direction we need to go.”
Ponder said he’s dealt with rib injuries before and played through them times in college.
“We are going to push it to the limit and see what we can do in a smart way,” Ponder said.
Through three games, Ponder ranks 21st in the NFL in passing yards (230.2 per game), 22nd in completion percentage (59%) and 30th in passer rating (65.9). He has two touchdown passes and five interceptions.
“My mindset is that I want to play this game, and we’ll do everything possible to do so,” Ponder said.
“I dont have a concern right now.”
The Vikings face the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday at Wembley Stadium. They arrived on Tuesday while the Steelers will arrive on Friday.
