Usain Bolt snapped Justin Gatlin’s 28-race win streak Sunday, claiming the gold medal at the 2015 IAAF World Championships 100m race in Beijing.
The Jamaican has been struggling with injuries for most of the season, but told the BBC after the race that this victory could give him a shift in momentum.
“It definitely means a lot because I’ve been struggling all season. It took me a while to discover what was the problem. And it’s all held together so I’m just happy.”
Bolt has now won nine world titles over 100m, 200m and the 4x100m relay.
Podium – Bolt 9.79, Gatlin 9.80, de Grasse & Brommell 9.92. Gatlin has coasted to faster times this year. Pressure told on him.
