Penguins’ Olli Maatta to undergo shoulder surgery

The Pittsburgh Penguins announced Tuesday that defenseman Olli Maatta will undergo shoulder surgery Wednesday and will miss the rest of the season.

Maatta, 20, has not played since a Dec. 6 game vs. Ottawa.  He had one goal and eight assists for nine points in 20 games this season.

The Penguins beat the Minnesota Wild 7-2 on Tuesday night.

Paul Martin, Kris Letang and Chris Kunitz each had a goal and an assist for the Penguins.

Marcel Goc and Brandon Sutter also scored for Pittsburgh. Sidney Crosby collected three assists.
