Patrick Roy calls David Backes ‘gutless’ for jumping Nathan MacKinnon

The Colorado Avalanche won their 50th game of the season Saturday with a dominating 4-0 win over the St. Louis Blues, who were visibly frustrated throughout the third period.

David Backes, 6-foot-3, 221-pounds, went after 18-year-old Nathan MacKinnon after taking a clean hit from the rookie center. Backes dropped his stick and gloves and took MacKinnon to the ice, landing on top of him.

Looks like the third was a good period to have watched. Gonna have to track that game down.
