Canucks acquire Raphael Diaz from Canadiens for Dale Weise


The Vancouver Canucks announced Monday that they have acquired defenseman Raphael Diaz from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for right winger Dale Weise.

Diaz, 28, has recorded 11 assists and 12 penalty minutes in 46 games for the Canadiens this season. He has played three seasons in the NHL, recording a total of 41 points (4-37-41) and 48 penalty minutes in 128 career games.

Diaz is in the final season of a two-year, $2.45 million contract and is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent in July.

Weise, 25, has recorded 12 points (3 goals, 9 assists) in 44 games since the beginning of the 2013-14 season.
