Colorado Avalanche: Matt Duchene out roughly four weeks

The Colorado Avalanche announced Monday that forward Matt Duchene will miss roughly four weeks with a knee injury.

Duchene suffered the injury on his first shift of Saturday’s 3-2 victory over the San Jose Sharks.  He collided with teammate Jamie McGinn in the San Jose zone and fell to the ice.  Duchene skated to the bench on his own but did not return to the game.

He had an MRI on Sunday.

Duchene leads the Avalanche in points (70), assists (47), shots (217) and game-winning goals (six-tied).  He is tied for third in goals with 23.

Duchene will likely miss the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, scheduled to begin April 16.  The Avs secured a playoff spot for the first time since 2010 with the win on Saturday.
