Vikings draft LB Anthony Barr, QB Teddy Bridgewater in first round

The Minnesota Vikings moved back one spot and selected outside linebacker Anthony Barr with the ninth overall pick, and then drafted quarterback Teddy Bridgewater with the 32nd overall pick.

Barr, 6-5, 265 pounds, played and started in 27 games during his junior and senior seasons, recording 148 tackles, 41.5 tackles for loss (TFLs), 23.5 sacks, nine forced fumbles and six pass breakups.

Barr earned First-Team All-Pac 12 honors in 2012 and 2013, and following the 2013 season he was named a finalist for the Lombardi, Bednarik and Butkus Awards and took home the Lott IMPACT Award.

The Vikings traded a second-round pick (40th overall) and a fourth-round pick (108) to the Seattle Seahawks to grab Bridgewater.

Bridgewater passed for 3,970 yards and 31 touchdowns against just four interceptions as a junior this past season.

Barr is a pure athlete. To accomplish what he has at LB after only 2 seasons at that position is remarkable. He has a lot to learn but he seems to be a very quick study.
