Steelers’ Maurkice Pouncey has torn ACL and MCL

An MRI Sunday revealed Pittsburgh Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey tore his MCL and ACL in his right knee and will need surgery, confirmed head coach Mike Tomlin.

Pouncey, 24, was carted off the field in the first quarter of the Steelers’ 16-9 loss to the Tennessee Titans. He suffered the injury on the Steelers’ first possession of the game after Dolphins’ David DeCastro rolled onto his lower right leg on a running play.

The Steelers were unable to move the ball consistently Sunday after Pouncey, a three-time Pro Bowler, went down.

The Steelers also lost inside linebacker Larry Foote to a ruptured biceps.  He will also need surgery.

The Steelers have little margin for error going forward.  They travel to Cincinnati next Sunday night, and then face the Bears and Vikings.
