The Green Bay Packers have already signed one former Chicago Bears’ Pro Bowl player in defensive end Julius Peppers, and should be interested in another.
Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com believes the Packers could get involved with return specialist Devin Hester, who visited the Atlanta Falcons on Wednesday, if the price is right.
According to ESPN’s sources, Hester is currently seeking a deal in the $4-million-per-year range.
That price might be high for many teams interested in the 31-year-old return man. But if he drops his per-year-range the Packers might be interested in signing the NFL’s record holder for kickoff and punt returns for touchdowns.
The Packers want to take receiver Randall Cobb out of the return game and find a return specialist. Green Bay ranked 30th in kickoff returns with a 20.3-yard average.
The Bears decided to let Hester go after his contract expired following last season.
