The Chicago Bears are expected to release wide receiver Earl Bennett after he declined a request to take a pay cut, reports ESPNChicago.com.
Bennett took a pay cut in 2013, lowering his salary by $1 million.
Bennett is scheduled to count $2.45 million against the Bears’ cap in 2014 and earn a total of $2.45 million.
Bennett finished last season with 32 receptions for 243 yards and four touchdowns.
The 26-year-old Bennett has played six seasons for the Bears and has 2,277 career receiving yards and 12 touchdowns.
The Bears have also asked kick returner/wide receiver Eric Weems to take a pay cut. He is scheduled to make $1.1 million total salary in 2014.
