Larry Foote

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced Wednesday that they have released linebacker Larry Foote, cornerback Curtis Brown and offensive tackle Levi Brown.

Foote, a fourth round (128th overall) pick in 2002, started 104-of-158 regular season games played and 10-of-16 postseason games during his career with the Steelers.

Curtis Brown played for the Steelers for three seasons after being selected by Pittsburgh in the third round (95th overall) of the 2011 NFL Draft.

Levi Brown was acquired by the Steelers in a trade with the Arizona Cardinals on October 2, 2013. He sustained a triceps injury and was placed on the team’s reserve/injured list on October 15, 2013.

The Steelers used the transition tag on outside linebacker Jason Worilds on Monday.  On Wednesday morning, they gave tight end Heath Miller and safety Troy Polamalu contract extensions through 2016.

Cutting Foote frees up $6.25 million in cap savings, Curtis Brown frees up $645,000 and Levi Brown frees up $6.25 million.
