Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton says the minor surgery he underwent Tuesday has been as painful as anything he’s been through.
“I had my wisdom teeth taken out,” Newton said after Sunday’s 31-24 victory over the Chicago Bears, via ESPN.com. “I’ve been under the scope so much this … season, I guess it’s just catching up with me.”
“It’s been kind of kicking me in the nuts with the hurting, but it’ll be all right,” the two-time Pro Bowler added.
Newton said his dentist told him he needed all four of his wisdom teeth out, but recommended taking just one this week. Newton didn’t want to keep coming back.
“So I told him to take all four out,” Newton said. “Day 1, good. Day 2, good.”
The rest of the week wasn’t so great, but Newton still managed to complete 19 of 35 pass attempts for 255 yards and two touchdowns.
“Cam Newton probable for next week,” he said with a smile. “That’s all right. We got a great win today.”
