The New York Giants have signed running back Peyton Hillis.

Hillis has made 33 starts in his six NFL seasons with four different teams.  He rushed or 1,177 yards and 11 touchdowns with the Cleveland Browns in 2010.

Hillis was voted by fans to appear on the cover of Madden NFL ’12, which didn’t help his career.  He suffered a torn hamstring in 2011 and has rushed for just 896 yards with three teams since his breakout season.

The winless Giants need a running with starter David Wilson out with a herniated disc in his neck and spinal stenosis and Andre Brown on the PUP list.  Brandon Jacobs is suffering from a hamstring injury as well.

The Giants released running back Da’Rel Scott, who was injured with a hamstring injury, leaving the Giants with one healthy back on the roster — rookie Michael Cox.
