Detroit Lions wide receiver Nate Burleson broke his arm in two places in a single-car accident and will have surgery Tuesday.
The lions issued a statement and say no alcohol was involved in the incident. Burleson was returning home from watching Monday Night Football at the time of the accident.
“We will provide appropriate updates when more information on Burleson’s condition becomes available,” the team’s statement reads.
Burleson leads the Lions with 19 catches through three games. His best game as a Lion was in Sunday’s 27-20 win over Washington. He hauled in six passes for 116 yards.
Ryan Broyles will replace Burleson in the No. 1 slot receiver role.
Burleson missed the final ten games last season after he broke his leg in a Monday night game against Chicago in October.
