The Cleveland Browns drafted Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel with the 22nd pick in the NFL Draft, but many people are forgetting a quarterback that the Browns already have on the roster.
Brian Hoyer is currently listed as number one on the depth chart, and he is not interested in giving that position up. According to reports coming out of Cleveland, Hoyer’s response to the Browns drafting Manziel was a “bring him on” quote.
#Browns GM Ray Farmer reached out to Brian Hoyer about Manziel. He said “bring him on.”

This is very good news for the Browns, and could mean that Hoyer and Manziel will be having a heated competition for the starting quarterback job. Many analysts have already given Manziel the position, but it is a bit premature to be giving him the job already.
Hoyer showed a lot of promise last season before going down with a torn ACL, and many in the organization have been high on his return all offseason.
Hoyer played in just three games last season, completing 59.4 percent of his passes. He totaled 615 yards and five touchdowns, while throwing three interceptions. There is no denying the talent that he has, but he still has a lot of work to do in order to beat out Manziel. Even if Hoyer is the better quarterback and proves it in a competition, the fans are still going to want to see Manziel out on the field.
Overall, this is going to be a very interesting situation to keep an eye on as training camp and preseason comes around. The Browns are very happy that they have a competition brewing, and Hoyer is very much a part of it. Manziel is still probably the better quarterback, but don’t count Hoyer out just yet.
