Tennessee Titans safety Benard Pollard, who signed a two-year extension this offseason, wants to win now.
“We have been a team where we have sucked butt. And I’m just being perfectly honest with you,” Pollard said, via Terry McCormick of TitansInsider. “We have sucked butt, and it’s time for us to turn that corner. Like I said last year and this year, we’re gonna knock the piss out of you. It’s gonna be fair. It’s gonna be within the lines – I may get one outside the lines or whatever – but that’s just who I am and that’s just who we are. It’s going to be a lot of fun doing it.”
The Titans finished 7-9 last season, and haven’t been to the postseason since 2008.
Pollard believes new coach Ken Whisenhunt can help turn things around.
“It’s time for guys to get on board. We can’t waste another year. I don’t have that time. Other guys in here, we don’t have that time. The Super Bowl is where we want to be. Competing and winning 10-plus games is what we want to do. So we need to get it done,” Pollard said “Coach Whiz is a guy who understands how to win. They’ve all crossed paths with Pittsburgh and systems where they know what it takes. He knows how to oversee a football team. He’s been successful. He’s been to the Super Bowl as a head coach and an assistant coach. So he understands that.
“He understands how to put his players in position. He’s not coming in playing favorites. He knows who he is, and he’s not gonna change the way he is, and we don’t expect him to change. I think what needs to change is our wins compared to our losses.”
