Alabama, Clemson to play for CFP title

The No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide and No. 1 Clemson Tigers will play for the College Football Playoff National Championship on Jan. 11 in Arizona.

Clemson advanced to the title game with an impressive 37-17 win over Oklahoma on Thursday in the Capital One Orange Bowl.

Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson threw for 187 yards, ran for another 145 and totaled three touchdowns.

The Crimson Tide advanced with a 38-0 victory over No. 3 Michigan State in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic on Thursday night.

Alabama was led by quarterback Jake Coker, who threw for 286 yards and two touchdowns to Calvin Ridley.  Running back Derrick Henry had two scores himself while rushing for 75 yards on 20 carries.

Clemson is 3-12 all time against Alabama and has lost the past 12 meetings. Alabama opens as seven-point favorites over the Tigers, according to Westgate SuperBook in Las Vegas.
