Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Gregg Popovich will meet with Portland Trail Blazers free agent LaMarcus Aldridge on Wednesday morning in Los Angeles to recruit the big man to the San Antonio Spurs, reports Yahoo Sports.
Duncan’s willingness to join in the meeting shows he will likely play one more season. He and Manu Ginobili are among several free agents the Spurs have this summer.
The Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Rockets and the Dallas Mavericks, Toronto Raptors and Phoenix Suns are all going after Aldridge, but the Spurs and Blazers are considered the frontrunners.
Aldridge, Duncan and forward Kawhi Leonard, who is expected to re-sign as a restricted free agent, anchoring the front line would certainly help the Spurs chances of again contending in the Western Conference.
