According to Marc Spears of Yahoo! Sports, the Houston Rockets are dangling Francisco Garcia around the league in trade talks.
The Rockets don’t have much of a use for him, especially with Omri Casspi playing such a large role, but he could be a nice addition for a contending team. Garcia can shoot the three-ball and play solid defense as well, and would likely be able to be acquired at a cheap price.
Garcia has played in 40 games this season for the Rockets, averaging 5.8 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game. Obviously those aren’t great numbers, but he’s a very reliable bench option just to add to the depth of a roster. He’s an experienced veteran that could help out a locker room as the playoffs approach as well.
There haven’t been reports as to what the Rockets would be asking for in return for Garcia, but it won’t be a very steep price. More than likely a team could acquire him for a second round pick or something along those lines. If there is a team that needs some bench depth and has a chance to compete towards the trading deadline, Garcia will likely be one of the options.
Overall, this isn’t big news, but there are teams that Garcia could carve out a very nice role with. There haven’t been any teams that have interest as of yet, but that will likely change over the next few weeks. Whether he ends up getting traded or not, Garcia is going to be on the trading block through the trade deadline.
