Brian Shaw will be the Denver Nuggets next head coach, reports The Denver Post.
Shaw, the Indiana Pacers assistant coach and former Phil Jackson pupil, has agreed to take over the Nuggets, taking over for George Karl, who was fired earlier this month.
Shaw, 47, takes over a Nuggets team that won 57 games last season and is loaded with young talent. He has a reputatyion in the league as being a players’ coach and a player developer.
Shaw, native of Oakland, Calif., played college ball at St. Mary’s and UC Santa Barbara. He played in the NBA from 1988-2003, and was a memeber of the championship Lakers team in the early 2000s.
After retiring from the NBA, Shaw was hired by Jackson as an assistant.
