The Los Angeles Dodgers told Matt Kemp’s agent, Dave Stewart, that the club plans to keep the star outfielder rather than trade him.
“They said they have no plans to move him — bottom line,” Stewart told ESPN.com.
Kemp, a two time All-Star, doesn’t want to leave Los Angeles.
“We’re both happy about it,” he said.
According to ESPN, the Dodgers talked to several teams about Kemp during the winter meetings, as well as earlier in this offseason. The Seattle Mariners and Boston Red Sox were among the clubs that talked seriously about acquiring Kemp. But the Dodgers never appeared anxious to trade the 29-year-old Kemp, who is recovering from surgeries on his shoulder and ankle this winter.
