Report: Dodgers plan to keep Matt Kemp

The Los Angeles Dodgers told Matt Kemp’s agent, Dave Stewart, that the club plans to keep the star outfielder rather than trade him.

“They said they have no plans to move him — bottom line,” Stewart told

Kemp, a two time All-Star, doesn’t want to leave Los Angeles.

“We’re both happy about it,” he said.

According to ESPN, the Dodgers talked to several teams about Kemp during the winter meetings, as well as earlier in this offseason.   The Seattle Mariners and Boston Red Sox were among the clubs that talked seriously about acquiring Kemp.  But the Dodgers never appeared anxious to trade the 29-year-old Kemp, who is recovering from surgeries on his shoulder and ankle this winter.

Matt Kemp is the “Face of the Dodgers”. Coletti should be fired for even contemplating a trade for him. Kemp is as dedicated a Pro BIG leaguer as there is & he has repeatedly shown it by playing through his injuries, which BTW, he sustained by going all out, every time he plays. His desires to play & retire in Dodger blue is its own testament as his integrity & professionalism. If anyone on this team should stay put, it’s him.
