Tiger Woods said Monday that he has been receiving treatment for his back injury but it’s still “too soon” to know if he will be able to play in the Masters.
“For Augusta, it’s actually still a little too soon (to know), to be honest with you,” Woods said, via Ryan Lavner of GolfChannel.com. “That’s kind of the frustrating thing about this.
“I had a couple weeks off, getting treatment and trying to get it ready for Augusta. As of right now, it’s still too soon. Which, as I said, that’s very frustrating.”
Woods back issues have plagued him all season. He withdrew from the Honda Classic after 13 holes on March 2 and then aggravated his back at the WGC-Cadillac Championship at Doral the following week.
Last week, Woods called Arnold Palmer to personally tell him that he would not be able to play in his tournament due to back spasms.
The Masters, which Woods has never missed as a pro, begins April 10.
